Getting thereRed Sea coast, about 1.5 hours south of Ain Sokhna or 2.5 hours from Cairo via the Galala highway. A car is completely mandatory for the remote spots; free parking on the sand tracks near local kite camps. The wide flat beach in front of the local surf shacks is the primary entry.
HazardsHighly variable water depth with extensive hidden sandbanks, sharp shell beds, and localized reef patches exposed at low tide — booties are genuinely worth having. Stay well clear of active shipping boat lanes downwind — no dedicated public safety rescue boats here.
Best time of dayMorning, as the desert wind peaks early with a steady cross-shore or cross-onshore flow from the north. Before midday gives the cleanest wind, before the land heats up and the breeze turns lighter or slightly gusty.
