Getting thereDeep in Egypt's southern Red Sea — Wadi Lahami specifically sits 10km south of Hamata village, about 393km south of Hurghada Airport (HRG) or 180km south of Marsa Alam Airport (RMF). This is genuinely remote: one of the last points of civilization before the Sudanese border, roughly 300km further south. Most visitors stay at dedicated kite camps or eco-lodges with transfers arranged directly.
HazardsA sandy-bottomed, sheltered lagoon with a protected mangrove area to the north — one of the largest in the Middle East and an important bird habitat. The genuinely important practical detail: summer temperatures here climb to 45°C, hot enough that kite camps using caravan accommodation actually close for the season — plan around June-September unless you're staying in a proper hotel with air conditioning.
