Getting thereNorth of Dahab town, a 1.5-hour drive from Sharm El Sheikh Airport (SSH), then a 4x4 camel-track journey or local boat taxi from the Blue Hole dive site. No paved roads or cars at the lagoon itself — access is via dirt track or sea, with staging directly from basic Bedouin camps lining the lagoon.
HazardsThe inside lagoon is perfectly flat but small, enclosed by a sharp, shallow spit, and gets genuinely crowded. Wind over the spit is violently offshore and gusty — venturing past the protected inside basin risks getting blown into the deep, open Gulf of Aqaba.
Best time of dayEarly morning through midday, when the Gulf of Aqaba wind-funneling effect is cleanest and most powerful — glass-flat water inside the lagoon before the daily crowd of day-trippers arrives.
