Getting thereAbout 1h15 south of Marsa Alam Airport (RMF) in Egypt's southern Red Sea, near Hamata and inside the Wadi El Gemal National Park boundary. Access typically runs through a kite camp or guide familiar with the park's protected status.
HazardsA genuinely low-risk lagoon by Red Sea standards โ 3km long at high tide, sandy bottom throughout, and shoulder-deep at most. The real consideration is environmental: this sits inside a national park under a mangrove's lee, so respect for the protected setting matters here more than at less-regulated spots.
Best time of daySeptember to June โ notably the opposite pattern from the Hurghada-area spots further north, and wind here fills in earlier in the day. Expect a light 12-15kt side-off breeze from early morning (sometimes rideable before kite centers even open, for self-sufficient riders with their own gear), building and shifting to a steadier 20kt side-shore by late morning.
