Getting there1.5 hours south of Cancún, or 30 minutes from Tulum International Airport (TQO) via the coastal hotel zone road. A car or local taxi is preferred; limited paid parking at beach clubs or national park gates. South Beach/Kite Beach near the hotel zone is the primary access.
HazardsA sharp barrier reef runs parallel to the coast, creating a choppy inner lagoon but a genuine impact hazard at low tide. Watch for shallow coral heads exposed as water drops, and the high concentration of beach beds and palm trees along the narrow launch zone.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when prevailing easterlies get a thermal boost from the hot Yucatan interior — steady side-onshore, far better than the calm mornings. Track mid-to-high tide for foil setups.
