Good to know

Getting thereJust 5 minutes north of La Ventana, roughly 50 minutes from La Paz (LAP) or 2.5 hours from Los Cabos (SJD). A car is necessary for gear and supply runs; free informal parking along dirt turnoffs to Hot Springs beach or the Arroyo launch. Arroyo has the widest sandy area for rigging.
HazardsJagged volcanic rock reef points along the coast can shred kites and lines if you drift too far downwind. Wind here runs slightly more offshore and gusty than La Ventana, and there's no organized municipal rescue boat system. Watch for stingrays in the shallows during shoulder seasons.
Best time of dayEarly to late afternoon — the thermal kicks in slightly later here than further south in the bay. Mid-to-high tide at the Hot Springs launch clears the rocky shelves near shore.
