Getting thereAbout 1h15 west of Hermosillo Airport (HMO) via Highway 100. A car is required for gear; free parking directly on the wide sandy dirt flats along the main beachfront avenue (Mar de Cortés). The open beach stretch in Kino Nuevo gives a massive, unobstructed launch zone.
HazardsA fully open sea setting with a real longshore current, and stingrays can concentrate suddenly in the shallow sand — shuffle your feet as a rule here. No localized rescue infrastructure, and expect large rolling chop during strong northerly wind events.
Best time of dayAfternoon, autumn through spring, when dominant northerly trades combine with local thermal building for a steady side-shore breeze. Post-midday gives the most consistent onshore/side-onshore conditions.
