Getting therePetite CΓ΄te, about 35 minutes south of Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS) via the toll highway. A car is required; free parking in the dirt and sand behind the open ocean dunes or next to local surf shacks. The beach south of the lagoon mouth is the primary entry.
HazardsA real, heavy shorebreak and genuine rip current that strengthens during spring tides on the open ocean side. Genuinely forgiving given the wide sandy expanses, but stay well clear of the swirling tidal current near the adjacent lagoon river mouth β no public rescue infrastructure here.
Best time of dayAfternoon, November-June, when prevailing NW trades align with local thermal gradients for a smooth cross-onshore blow. Increases post-midday, past the morning calm.
