Getting thereBelow the Mosque of the Divinity in Dakar, about 45 minutes from Blaise Diagne International Airport (DSS). A car or city taxi is preferred for gear; free parking in the dirt lots next to the fisherman docks. The narrow sandy pocket between the high rocky bluffs gives direct entry.
HazardsConstrained by massive vertical cliffs, urban infrastructure, and heavy artisanal fishing boat traffic through the narrow cove. Genuinely challenging for beginners given severe wind shadows near the beach front and real open-ocean undercurrent.
Best time of dayLate afternoon, winter through early summer, when NW trades align with daily thermal cycles past the outer headlands. After 3pm gives the sea breeze time to fill in cleanly away from the bluffs.
