Good to know

Getting thereAbout 35 minutes southwest of Montpellier Airport (MPL) via the D612. A car is needed; free and paid parking along the 12km sand spit at the Les 3 Digues beach entrances. Les 3 Digues handles the ocean side, while Pont-Levis gives immediate lagoon access on the Étang de Thau.
HazardsThe ocean side (Les 3 Digues) has a real shorebreak and heavy lateral current during strong SE Marin storms. The lagoon side (Pont-Levis) is safe and shallow but bordered by commercial oyster beds and sharp underwater iron pickets — a genuine impact hazard if you drift downwind.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the thermal sea breeze reinforces summer wind for consistent side-onshore riding. For Pont-Levis specifically, early afternoon is cleanest before the water gets choppy across the open basin.
