Getting there15 minutes east of Narbonne or 1 hour from Montpellier Airport (MPL) via the A9. A car is essential for the flat dirt roads; free parking directly on the sand flats behind the dunes at Plage de la Vieille Nouvelle. The open shoreline away from the chalet district gives the cleanest access.
HazardsThe Tramontane blows genuinely offshore here too, regularly exceeding 35kt — glass-flat water, but real risk of drifting out to sea. Don't ride here unless you're with a school running boat support, or have your own rescue watercraft arranged.
Best time of dayMorning through midday, when the NW Tramontane is at its most stable and dense. Early sessions get the smoothest speed strips before afternoon heat adds minor turbulence near the sand bluffs.
