Getting thereAude department, roughly 35 minutes south of Narbonne or 1 hour from Perpignan Airport. A car is mandatory for the étang (lagoon); free dirt parking at the 'Prise d'Alzon' spot or near the salt pans. The northern track leads directly to the main shallow-water launch.
HazardsThe lagoon is often knee-deep or shallower — foil boards will strike the muddy bottom, and twintip riders risk hard impacts on the floor during jumps. The Tramontane here is genuinely strong and largely offshore — riders who can't hold an upwind line risk being blown away from the bank.
Best time of dayMorning through afternoon whenever the Tramontane blows from the NW — reliably strong, though worth timing sessions around adequate water levels in the lagoon during dry summer months.
