Getting thereParc des Dosses on the Étang de Leucate, about 20 minutes north of Perpignan Airport via the D83. A car is essential; a spacious free dirt lot sits right next to the teleski facility. The designated kiteboarding zone at the edge of the point is the best access.
HazardsThe NW Tramontane here blows strictly offshore and can regularly exceed 30-40kt — genuinely stressful, powerful conditions, not an exaggeration. Water is shallow near the entry, but stay within the marked school areas — getting blown into deep water across the lake means no automatic rescue is coming.
Best time of dayMorning to early afternoon, when the Tramontane is typically strongest and cleanest. Check local wind alerts specifically — conditions here can escalate past what standard kite sizes can handle.
