Good to know

Getting thereSouthwestern tip of Finistère, about 30 minutes from Quimper Airport (UIP) or 1.5 hours from Brest (BES). A car is mandatory for gear; a large free public lot sits directly behind the dunes at Pointe de la Torche. The wide north-facing sandy bay is the standard launch zone.
HazardsA high-intensity Atlantic wave spot with a real shorebreak, genuine impact-zone risk, and a permanent rip current running along the rocky headland. True beginners should avoid this entirely — deep water starts instantly and the lineup has a high concentration of committed local surfers.
Best time of dayMid-tide on a rising cycle, covering the lowest exposed rock shelves while leaving plenty of beach for safe launching. Afternoon sessions get a slight thermal boost on the prevailing NW wind along the Breton cliffs.
