Getting there45 minutes east of Diego Suarez (Antsiranana) town center, about 1 hour from Arrachart Airport (DIE) via rough, unpaved sand tracks. A high-clearance 4x4 or local tuk-tuk transfer is required; free parking directly on the sand behind local eco-lodges. The wide beach inside the protected reef bay gives direct entry.
HazardsA continuous fringing reef runs parallel to the beach, creating a flat lagoon that gets genuinely dangerously shallow at low tide, exposing sharp coral heads. Time sessions precisely with high tide, wear booties, and watch for strongly offshore wind angles on the outer reef line.
Best time of dayMid-morning through late afternoon, April-November, when the 'Vatovavy' trade wind blows continuously at 25-35kt. Early sessions get the most stable density before intense tropical midday heat brings slight turbulence.
