Good to know

Getting thereSouthern Brittany, about 1.5 hours from Brest Airport (BES) or 45 minutes from Lorient via the N165. A car is needed for the narrow peninsula road (D768); free parking in the sand lots behind the dunes at Kerhilio beach (Erdeven). The wide Kerhilio beach is the primary, unobstructed launch.
HazardsA genuine tidal range on the open ocean side, plus a real Atlantic shorebreak and stronger longshore current during spring tides. Use the designated summer kite zones β€” riding inside the crowded swimmer sanctuaries brings real fines β€” and watch for hidden rock patches at low tide.
Best time of dayMid-to-high tide on a rising cycle, for adequate depth over the shallow rock flats near the headlands. Afternoon sessions combine NW wind with local thermal gradients for steady onshore conditions.
