Getting thereChiapas, about 2.5 hours from Tuxtla Gutiérrez Airport (TGZ), or 45 minutes from Tonalá. A car is essential for this long coastal strip; free parking directly on the sand behind local beachfront guesthouses (palapas). The expansive shoreline gives an essentially unlimited rigging and launch area.
HazardsAn open Pacific setting with a real, dumping shorebreak and lateral rip current that can drain energy fast. Watch for hidden sandbars causing sudden wave steepness — no dedicated public marine safety or kite rescue infrastructure here.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when equatorial trades get accelerated by thermal suction from the dry interior plains. Post-midday gives steady onshore/side-onshore conditions that hold until sunset.
