Getting thereSouthern tip of Corsica near Bonifacio, about 30 minutes from Figari-Sud Corse Airport (FSC). A car is completely necessary for the narrow coastal roads; free dirt-shoulder parking near the beach lagoons. Piantarella gives shallow flat-water access; La Tonnara on the west coast handles open-sea waves.
HazardsPiantarella's sandy-floored lagoon is genuinely crowded with summer windsurfers, boat moorings, and shallow rocky blocks near the reef. La Tonnara is a real step up in difficulty β immediate deep water, a powerful shorebreak, and sharp granite walls on the downwind side.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the daily thermal (Libeccio or Poniente) gets heavily compressed through the Strait of Bonifacio for extremely consistent wind. Arrive early β the narrow lagoon tracks fill completely with tourist vehicles.
