Getting thereSouthern Brittany near the Vilaine estuary, about 1 hour northwest of Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE). A car is required; free dirt parking behind the golden cliffs at Plage de la Mine d'Or. The wide beach below the cliff access paths is the primary entry.
HazardsA genuine, extreme tidal range exposes jagged rock shelves and mudflats at dead low tide. Check tide tables closely — an outgoing tide generates real current near the river mouth, and a real shorebreak develops against the cliff base during high spring tides.
Best time of dayThree hours either side of high tide, for enough depth to clear the rocks safely. Afternoon sessions align NW wind with local coastal thermal enhancement for stable cross-onshore conditions.
