Getting thereNorthern tip of Mazatlán's hotel zone, about 35 minutes from Mazatlán International Airport (MZT). A car or local pulmonía taxi is needed for gear; free parking in the public dirt lots next to the Playa Brujas surf restaurants. The wide beach north of the hotel towers is the primary access.
HazardsOpen Pacific exposure brings a real, heavy shorebreak and rip current running along the rocky headlands. Genuinely challenging for beginners given the fast transition to deep water, big summer swell wave sets, and no dedicated public safety rescue boats.
Best time of dayAfternoon, spring through early summer, when daytime heating over the Sierra Madre triggers a steady thermal sea breeze from the NW. Stabilizes after 2pm for a consistent cross-onshore breeze.
