WaterFlat (Mistral) + waves (Marin)
L'Almanarre's quiet counterpart, facing Porquerolles from the opposite side of the Giens peninsula — flat and sheltered when the Mistral blows on the far side, waves when the wind swings easterly. Check local rules before rigging, as kiting is officially restricted here in peak summer.

Getting thereEastern side of the Giens Tombolo in Hyères, just 10 minutes from Toulon-Hyères Airport (TLN). A car is required; summer parking is genuinely difficult, with limited paid street slots along Boulevard de la Marine. The beach opposite the local holiday villages is the primary access.
HazardsHeavy seasonal swimming crowds mean kiters must use narrow, legally mandated launch channels in summer. Watch for a real shorebreak and strong onshore chop during intense E or SE wind systems.
Best time of dayMorning to early afternoon, when a strong easterly blows directly onshore or cross-onshore. This setup makes good wave-riding conditions — early hours avoid the heaviest swimmer traffic.
