A windswept headland on the Gulf of Suez so reliably windy it's now home to one of Egypt's largest wind farms โ€” not a subtle spot.

Good to know

Getting thereAbout 1 hour north of Hurghada International Airport (HRG) along the main Suez-Hurghada highway. A car is completely necessary for this remote wind-farm coastal stretch โ€” the same general area hosts one of the largest wind farms in Egypt, a real indicator of just how consistently strong wind is here. Primitive dirt parking along the highway shoulders next to the water inlets; access is entirely wild, walking across gravel salt crusts.
HazardsAn intense thermal wind tunnel where the breeze regularly screams past 30-40kt daily โ€” a genuinely stressful environment. Completely unsuited to true beginners given immediate deep-water drop-offs, sharp hidden rock shelves close to shore, and no localized rescue craft or cell service at all.
Best time of dayMorning through early afternoon, when the extreme temperature differential between the Red Sea and baking interior mountains creates a powerful wind tunnel. Blows relentlessly day and night in season, but early hours give the cleanest, most stable profiles before high desert heat builds.
