Getting thereEast Yorkshire coast near Bridlington, about 1 hour north of Hull or 1.5 hours from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) via the A165. A car is completely necessary for this rural farm road beach; a dedicated paid dirt lot behind the low clay cliffs. Park directly on the grass flats overlooking the sand.
HazardsA genuinely extreme North Sea tidal range exposes old metal spikes and concrete anti-tank blocks dating back to WWII, hidden just beneath the surface close to shore. Check tide tables closely to avoid these physical hazards, and expect a freezing freshwater undertow year-round.
Best time of dayLow-to-mid tide on a rising cycle, giving a wide sandy arena and keeping the wartime obstacles safely visible on the upper dry beach. Afternoon sessions take advantage of the thermal sea breeze building against the Yorkshire coast.
