Good to know

Getting thereWestern coast of the Sinai Peninsula, about 1.5 hours south of Sharm El Sheikh Airport (SSH) or 4 hours from Cairo via the main highway. A car or taxi transfer is necessary; free dirt parking right behind the main kite school center. The beach inside the semi-enclosed 'Moses Bay' is the primary launch point.
HazardsA genuinely extreme tidal range exposes a sharp rocky reef platform and mud flats on the outer perimeter at low tide. The inside lagoon has vast knee-to-waist-deep standing areas, but watch for strongly offshore wind on the outer point, which will rapidly sweep a rider into the deep Gulf of Suez.
Best time of dayMorning through late afternoon, when the Gulf of Suez wind funneling effect is at its cleanest and most powerful. Northerly winds blow flawlessly side-onshore across the main bay, a reliable all-day window good for both freestyle and twin-tip training.
