An unspoiled fishing village with palm-lined streets, genuinely quieter than Cancún or Playa del Carmen but with well-regarded local kite schools and consistent wind of its own.

Getting thereFly into Cancún (CUN) and drive 2.5-3 hours northwest via toll road and federal highway through Colonia Yucatán. A car is recommended given how remote the town is; free parking on the sand or side roads behind the dunes. Best entry is in front of the local kite schools or near the main town pier.
HazardsWatch for localized manta rays and seasonal stingrays — step carefully wading out. The beach itself is free of buildings, but moderate shorebreak and rolling chop can make body-dragging out harder than expected. Keep a safe distance from fishing boats moored near the pier, per local rules.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the thermal sea breeze often adds 5-8kt to the baseline forecast. Non-tidal; late spring brings the most reliable, warm side-onshore wind.
