Getting thereFly into Mombasa (MBA) then ~45–60 min south (Likoni ferry or Dongo Kundu bridge) or direct to Ukunda airstrip (5 min from Diani). Beach access is via public corridors between resorts; informal roadside parking.
HazardsLow spring tides expose coral and sea urchins — booties advised for beginners or anyone body-dragging. Fishing nets sometimes set inside the lagoon. Some sections become very shallow.
Best time of dayKusi season (roughly Jul–Sep) for the strongest, most consistent SE trades; sessions often best on the rising or mid tide to avoid extreme low-water shallows.
