Good to know

Getting there20km north of Malindi, about 30 minutes via a bumpy, unpaved dirt track off the main highway. A car or private taxi transfer is necessary; free parking at the Che Shale resort. The golden sand beach in front of the resort's kite school gives completely unobstructed access.
HazardsAn open ocean setting with a real shorebreak at high tide and genuine lateral undercurrent. Genuinely forgiving given the wide sandy expanses, but note rescue options here are managed exclusively by the resort's private jet-ski, not a broader public service.
Best time of dayAfternoon, July-September (Kusi monsoon) and January-March (Kaskazi monsoon), when solar heating accelerates the trades. Usually on by 1pm for a steady, predictable cross-onshore breeze.
