Puerto Vallarta's home bay isn't traditionally considered a top-tier kite destination, but it does offer real, if lighter, wind for adventurous riders alongside its resort-town infrastructure.

Getting thereNuevo Vallarta, just 15 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR). A car or local taxi is preferred for gear; free parking at the Fibba beach access lot. The wide beachfront in front of the resort zones gives a completely unobstructed launch area.
HazardsA safe sand bottom, but the nearshore zone develops a moderate shorebreak and real longshore current during high swell. Stay well clear of the marked summer swimming sanctuaries, and watch for parasailing boats and jet skis.
Best time of dayAfternoon, March-June, when Mexican interior heat creates a strong, reliable thermal sea breeze from the WNW. Usually on by 1pm and peaking by late afternoon — genuinely excellent side-onshore conditions.
