Getting thereSouthern Israel, about 45 minutes south of Tel Aviv via Route 4. A car is necessary for gear; extensive free parking along the urban beach promenade (Playa Beach or Yud-Alef Beach). The designated water sports zone gives the primary, unobstructed launch.
HazardsGenuinely heavy seasonal swimming crowds, restricted in summer to narrow, legally mandated launch channels. Watch for real shorebreak and longshore current during intense winter storms or building NW swells.
Best time of dayAfternoon, once daily thermal heating builds the Mediterranean sea breeze to peak velocity. Summer afternoons give the most predictable side-onshore conditions and manageable chop away from crowds.
