A narrow sand tombolo south of Hyères with the Mediterranean on one side and a sheltered lagoon on the other — one of the Riviera's few spots where the Mistral doesn't need a wetsuit.

Good to know

Getting thereHyères, about 10 minutes from Toulon-Hyères Airport (TLN) along the Route du Sel. A car is necessary; parking is notoriously difficult, with limited free/paid spaces on the narrow coastal road. The northern end of the 5km beach is the official launch/landing zone for kiters.
HazardsA west-northwest Mistral creates a real shorebreak and powerful onshore chop that makes launching hard for less experienced riders. A strict municipal rule forces kiters through a specific channel out to 300m before riding, to keep clear of swimmers — this is enforced, not just suggested.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the Mistral aligns with the local thermal cycle for peak consistency. Easterly wind brings flat water to this side of the tombolo, but it's then offshore — advanced riders only in that direction.
