Good to know

Getting thereA highly remote sector of southwestern Boa Vista, requiring a genuine 45-minute 4x4 drive from Sal Rei via unpaved desert sand tracks. A high-clearance 4x4 with extra water is completely mandatory; free camping parking directly on the cliff edges overlooking the caves. The wide, wild bay gives a completely unobstructed launch.
HazardsA fully open ocean setting with a real, heavy Atlantic shorebreak and sharp volcanic rock shelves flanking both sides of the bay. True beginners should avoid this entirely โ€” wind blows strongly side-offshore, deep water starts instantly, and there's no organized rescue craft or cell service.
Best time of dayAfternoon, January-April, when dry thermal trades get heavily compressed along the rugged coastal cliffs. Late afternoon gives the most powerful, consistent wind and cleanest wave faces for advanced riders.
