Good to know

Getting thereAbout 80km south of Beirut International Airport, roughly 1.5 hours by car via the coastal highway. A vehicle is required for the expansive southern coastline; parking is straightforward in large open dirt/sand lots behind the public beach tents. Tyr South Beach near the nature reserve boundary has the widest, most unobstructed access.
HazardsThe long sandy beach is mostly free of physical obstructions, but swimmers crowd the shallows in mid-summer โ€” stay well clear of designated swimming zones. Short, choppy wave periods and real current can make upwind progression hard without boat rescue support.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when prevailing W/SW wind is reinforced by daily thermal building. Mid-week sessions avoid the heavy weekend beach crowds.
