Good to know

Getting thereSalento region, Puglia, about 1h15 south of Brindisi Airport (BDS) via the SS101. A car is necessary; dirt-lot parking behind the coastal pine forests. The wide sandy beaches of the Ugento nature reserve are the primary, clean launch/rigging areas.
HazardsCrystal clear water and sandy shallows, but low tide exposes hidden rocky reefs slightly further out that can catch foil masts or fins. Avoid riding during strong southerly Scirocco storms โ€” genuinely punishing shorebreak and chaotic wave conditions then.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when the daytime thermal boosts either the cross-shore Tramontane (north) or the warmer Scirocco (south) โ€” stable wind density and clear Salento water.
