Getting thereFly into Trapani Birgi (TPS), 10 minutes away, or Palermo (PMO), about 1h15 via the A29. A car is needed; paid parking is enforced along the narrow lagoon road via blue lines or private kite club lots. Designated school lawns like Santa Maria are the best access.
HazardsThe lagoon floor is a shallow (<1m) basin of sea grass, mud, and hidden limestone rock steps. Jumping too close to the banks risks hard impacts on the shallow floor, and fins/foils can easily clog or ground out. Kiting is prohibited inside the archaeological channels and navigation lanes near the ancient island of Mozia — respect the boundary.
Best time of dayAll day, April-October — the shallow water warms quickly and reinforces the prevailing NW wind with a local thermal effect. Unaffected by tides.
