Good to know

Getting thereWest of Jericoacoara, requiring a 4x4 beach buggy across massive dunes and a short traditional wooden car ferry across the Guriú River. Access is strictly off-road; parking directly on the river sandbars next to the lagoon shacks. The wide tidal flat near the freshwater lagoon mouth is the primary launch.
HazardsWind blows genuinely fierce here, frequently exceeding 30-35kt — a highly intense environment. Physically demanding for true beginners given the raw wind power, choppy river transitions, and complete absence of organized rescue teams or medical clinics nearby.
Best time of dayMidday to afternoon, August-December, when trades get heavily accelerated by thermal suction from the dry interior. Wind is stable all day — plan around a rising tide for the smoothest flat-water mirrors behind the sand spit.
