WaterFlat lagoon
A shallow, warm lagoon just inland from Cumbuco, one of the easiest places on this whole coast to learn — flat water and the same relentless trade wind as the beach nearby.

Getting thereAbout 10km downwind from Cumbuco town center, roughly 1 hour from Fortaleza International Airport (FOR). A 4x4 beach buggy or car is required for the coastal sand tracks; parking directly on the packed sand behind the lagoon. The lagoon sits right at the ocean edge for immediate access to flat water and waves.
HazardsExtreme crowding is the main hazard — dozens of pro freestyle riders and students packed into a narrow freshwater basin. Genuinely precise kite steering matters to avoid line tangles, and local right-of-way customs near the lagoon banks are worth respecting strictly.
Best time of dayMorning to early afternoon, August-December, before the daily downwinder tours arrive from Cumbuco and crowd the tight space. Early sessions get the smoothest flat water before afternoon chop builds.
