Good to know

Getting thereSouthern Tuscany, about 1.5 hours south of Pisa International Airport (PSA) via the SS1 Aurelia. A car is essential; a large paid dirt lot right at the Talamone sports hub and campground beach. The wide beach inside the semi-enclosed bay is the primary launch.
HazardsVast knee-to-waist-deep standing areas make this genuinely beginner-friendly, but hydrofoil masts will easily strike bottom close to shore. Use the designated summer kite lanes strictly โ€” watch for heavy windsurfer and sailing school boat traffic through the shallows.
Best time of dayAfternoon, June-September, when the classic Tuscan thermal builds from the WNW like clockwork after 1pm. Reliable 15-20kt cross-onshore with genuinely flat water inside the bay's protective curve.
