Getting thereEastern Coast sector, about 1h15 west of Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (PLZ) in Gqeberha. A car is required; free parking at the Kromme River mouth lot or the main beach access tracks. The sandy flats inside the Kromme River estuary give the cleanest staging.
HazardsThe river mouth estuary generates genuinely powerful, rapid tidal current during ebb and flood cycles that can sweep a kiter out to sea or into concrete canal bridge pylons. Stay inside the shallow flat-water pools, watch for high-speed jet ski and wakeboard traffic in holiday season, and avoid sharp oyster shells near the banks.
Best time of dayMid-to-high tide on a rising cycle, for enough depth over the inside sandbanks to track without dragging fins in the mud. Afternoon sessions are best with prevailing E or SW winds blowing cleanly into the bay axis.
