Getting thereInside the West Coast National Park, about 1.5 hours north of Cape Town International Airport (CPT). A car is mandatory; free dirt parking along the ridge overlooking the bay. The wide beach at the bottom of the footpaths is the primary entry.
HazardsGenuinely beginner-friendly given the vast knee-deep sand flats, but the incoming tide creates real current pulling riders up-lagoon. Peak summer wind density is intense β the cross-shore breeze can exceed 25-30kt, making small kite sizes essential.
Best time of dayLate morning through afternoon, November-March, when the South African 'South-Easter' (Cape Doctor) gets thermally accelerated down the lagoon. Arrive by mid-morning to beat the narrow ridge lot filling up with local kiters.
