Getting thereInside the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, northern KwaZulu-Natal, about 4.5 hours from King Shaka International Airport (DUR). A car is required, and there's a park entry fee at the gate before parking in the large public beach sand lots. The wide sandy launch inside the protected main bay is the primary access.
HazardsA fully open ocean setting with a real shorebreak, genuine undercurrent, and a high concentration of dive charter boats launching directly off the sand. Watch for the fast transition to deep water and local shark populations, and stay well clear of the designated boat launching lanes.
Best time of dayMorning to early afternoon, when prevailing NE or S trade winds blow cleanly across the coast. Early sessions give the most stable wind and clearest tracking before midday heat brings slight thermal turbulence close to shore.
