Getting thereObhur Al Shamaliyah district, about 30 minutes north of Jeddah International Airport (JED). A car is needed; entry requires a steep paid admission fee at the private Silver Sands beach resort gate, which includes secure parking. The manicured sandy beach inside the private resort is the exclusive launch point.
HazardsOpen-sea access has a real shorebreak and strong current past the outer reef barrier. The inner reef lagoon is fairly tight, and a kite malfunction past the breaker line means a rapid drift into the deep Red Sea shipping lanes — a genuinely challenging setting for true beginners.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when prevailing northerly trades are reinforced by local thermal gradients off the western desert. Mid-afternoon gives the most reliable wind and cleaner tracking away from the reef shadow.
