Getting there15 minutes east of Jericoacoara National Park, about 4 hours from Fortaleza Airport (FOR) or 20 minutes from Cruz Airport (JJD). A 4x4 is highly recommended for the deep sand tracks; free parking directly on the beach in front of local kite pousadas. The whole beachfront is an open, unobstructed launch zone.
HazardsWind blows fiercely onshore or side-onshore at 25-35kt, creating a powerful shorebreak and large chop. Genuinely physically demanding for true beginners — expect a real struggle body-dragging past the breaking waves without getting swept back onto the hard sand.
Best time of dayMid-morning through late afternoon, July-January, when easterly trades blow with real consistency all day. Plan around mid-tide to reduce the steepest shorebreak angles.
