Getting thereFly into Tunis-Carthage (TUN) and drive about 1 hour southeast via the A1 to the Cape Bon peninsula. A car is recommended for hauling gear; free parking along public beach tracks near the Les Deux Chameaux zone. Wide sandy beaches away from the main fishing port are the cleanest rigging spots.
HazardsOld stone breakwalls and underwater rocky shelves run parallel to parts of the coast. Watch for a fast depth drop-off and real rip currents that can develop during heavy easterly wind. Keep a wide berth from active fishing boat channels near the harbor entrance.
Best time of day1-5pm in summer, once solar heating over the Cape Bon hills builds a reliable thermal sea breeze. Non-tidal; a clean side-onshore forecast keeps wind steady away from coastal buildings.
