WaterFlat lagoon
Part of Tunisia's flagship kite region — a huge, shallow, flat-water lagoon known as the "Island of Dreams" among North African kiters. Thermal wind from the NE/SE, strongest June–August, with butter-flat water that makes it one of the best beginner lagoons on the continent.

Getting thereFly into Djerba-Zarzis (DJE) and take a 25-minute taxi or rental car east toward Midoun. A car helps but isn't essential — taxis are cheap; free parking at the Souani beach access tracks. Best entry is in front of the local hotel beach stations, away from central resort sunbeds.
HazardsRocky patches and old concrete foundations hide just beneath the sand near shore. Water stays shallow and standing-depth for hundreds of meters, but strong tidal currents run parallel to the coast during spring tides. Keep a safety buffer from swimmers and beach camel tours per local rules.
Best time of dayAfternoon, April-October, when summer trades get a real thermal boost off the heating Tunisian mainland. A filling mid-tide gives the most comfortable depth without exposing the muddy bottom.
