Getting thereFly into Maceió (MCZ) or Recife (REC), both roughly 2-2.5 hours' drive. A car is needed for the coastline; free parking along public beach access roads or at beachfront restaurants. Best launching is along the open sands of Praia de Antunes.
HazardsExtensive, sharp coral reef and marine rocks sit just below the surface, heavily exposed at low tide — wear protective booties, since a lack of tracking or an unexpected drop can cause severe reef cuts. Heavy tourist catamaran traffic ferrying swimmers to the natural pools.
Best time of dayAfternoon for the cleanest wind, when trade winds combine with the local thermal sea breeze. Time sessions around mid-to-high tide so fins or foil clear the shallow reef.
