Good to know

Getting thereNortheastern Sardinia, about 40 minutes south of Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) via the SS131DCN. A car is needed; dirt-lot parking directly behind the dense pine forest. The 5km sandy beach near San Giovanni harbor is the primary, unobstructed launch.
HazardsGenerally very safe with a sandy bottom, but local rules genuinely require using the designated, buoy-marked kite zones in summer โ€” real police fines apply, not just posted signage. Watch for real longshore current and a moderate shorebreak when E or SE winds blow directly onshore.
Best time of dayAfternoon, spring through autumn, when solar heating over Sardinia triggers a reliable ESE thermal. Steady cross-onshore tracking with manageable chop, well past the calm mornings.
