Getting thereCap Bon peninsula, about 1.5 hours east of Tunis-Carthage Airport (TUN) via the C26 or C27. A car is required for gear; free parking in the dirt and sand clearings behind Mansoura Beach. The wide public beach near the ancient fort is the primary, most spacious launch area.
HazardsSlopes off quickly into deep water close to shore, generating a moderate shorebreak and short, punchy chop when easterly winds blow hard. Stick to the open sandy stretches away from concrete resort walls, and watch for jet ski traffic in peak summer.
Best time of dayAfternoon, late spring through summer, when the Mediterranean thermal kicks in from the NNE. Builds consistently post-midday for an easily accessible riding window past the calm mornings.
