Getting thereRemote desert coastline south of the capital, about 45 minutes from Nouakchott city center. A 4x4 is required for the soft sand tracks from the main highway; free off-road parking anywhere on the open coastal flats. The main entry is a completely wild, unmanaged sandy beach.
HazardsA wild open-ocean wave spot with a real, brutal shorebreak, heavy wave sets, and genuine open-ocean rip current. Avoid this entirely when the wind blows hard — deep water starts instantly, with no localized rescue craft, safety teams, or cell service.
