Good to know

Getting thereJust 25 minutes north of Natal city center via the coastal highway and bridge. A car or 4x4 beach buggy is required for the famous dune access tracks; free parking in the dirt and sand behind the main beach bars. The wide sandy crescent bay is the primary launch zone.
HazardsHigh-speed tourist buggy tours run continuously along the active launching lanes, plus heavy weekend swimming crowds. Watch for real shorebreak and undercurrent during strong trades, with no official rescue boat support on site.
Best time of dayAfternoon, when prevailing trades get thermally accelerated along the Rio Grande do Norte coast. Mid-tide gives the widest safe launching space away from the dune tracks and swimmers.
