Good to know

Getting thereSalento region, Puglia, about 1h15 south of Brindisi Airport (BDS) via the SS16 and coastal roads. A car is required for gear; paid parking under the pine trees along the beach access tracks. The sandy and pebble beach inside the nature reserve is the primary launch.
HazardsA real, dumping Adriatic shorebreak and genuine lateral current along the rocky point break shelves. Genuinely unsuited to true beginners โ€” fast transition to deep water, jagged limestone rocks hidden just below the surface close to shore, and no rescue craft here at all.
Best time of dayMorning to early afternoon, spring and autumn, when strong NE Tramontane or NW Maestro winds blow directly into the bay โ€” big waves and clean shore tracking, free of summer tourist restrictions.
